Welcome to the Indie Twific Awards!

Everyone had to start somewhere...RPatz was Cedric before Edward; Billy Burke didn't always have the rocking 'stache.

And because everyone was a newbie at some point, we want to acknowledge the great up and comers. Those wonderful diamonds in the rough, which with a bit of polishing, could be a heart shaped diamond hanging from a charm bracelet...

So we've created The Indie TwiFic Awards - designed to highlight the wonderful stories out there that deserve attention.

The Independent TwiFic Awards are focused on recognizing the best in up and coming or under recognized Twilight Fan Fiction.

Please visit our Archive section to view information about past cycles. This section contains past News articles, list of past Nominees, Winners and Judges.

News and Updates

The Indie Swan Song

August 27, 2010

It's with sadness that we announce the closure of the Indie Twific Awards. Over the past year we are proud of the traction and awareness this fandom has created around lesser known fics and first time writers. With the continued influx of writers and the shift in the way people review and discuss stories, we feel that the framework and concept has outlived it's application, and we both believe the right thing to do is formally discontinue the awards process.

The site will remain active for the foreseeable future, so that you all may have access to the 2009 and 2010 nominees and winners. We appreciate all of your support and enthusiasm, and wish you the best.

Indie Twific Awards Winter 2010 Winners!

March 28, 2010

Almost a year ago we (Hmonster4 & Gustariana) embarked in a quest to create an award to highlight the best up and coming stories in the fandom. At the time it seemed like such a logical and easy thing to do. We were right about the logical, and a bit off on the easy, it's amazing to round out our first year with the completion of our second round. One idealistic chat turned into these awards and as time passes we find that our desire to promote the Indie authors only continues to grow.

Each cycle of the Indies brings new insights as well as perspectives on things past. It helps us grow and think about the evolution of the Awards. We can't wait to share with you the ideas we are working on and we are more than excited to have you come along with us on this journey.

Now, without further ado... It is with great pleasure and even more excitement that we announce the winners of the Winter '10 Indies Twific Awards!

First Round of Voting Now Closed! What comes next?

March 2, 2010

The 1st round of voting for the Indies is now officially closed. Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate and vote! We are busy checking every story and getting ready for the final round of voting, scheduled to open on 3/15. If you are wondering what comes next, here is a brief run down.

During the initial validation nominated stories go thru a quick check to lock in reviews and check content. The validation team worked thru more than 600 stories in the span of 6 days. 40% of stories submitted were disqualified for a myraid of reasons (review counts, completed story nominated last Indies cycle, indie winner, author already established in the fandom with high review count stories, or immediate flags for grammar and content).

Now that we are done with the 1st round of voting, we will take the top stories from each category to read for content, grammar and punctuation. In addition we ensure that every single story that passes to the next round was indeed an Indie at the time of nominations. At this point we can still have disqualifications, please keep this in mind. In the end, the top five stories in each category based on a) vote and b) validation of indie status AND content will make it to the final round of voting. Please note this is different from the previous round, where the final 10 stories continued on. Check back here on Sunday, 3/7 to see the full list of final round stories. In the meantime, if you have any questions or feedback regarding the stories nominated please contact us at indie.twific.awards@gmail.com

Having trouble finding stories to nominate?

January 21, 2010

There are plenty of great unknown stories out there. Don't believe us? Well one of Hmonster4's favorite WIP is averaging 22 reviews per chapter, and one of her all time favorite stories (completed this fall) has just 600 reviews. Both of which are crimes.

Our recommendation
  • go back to the beginning - and remember the ways you used to find stories...
  • check the fanfiction.net favorites lists of authors or reviewers you know and trust.
  • use the blogs: The Little Known Ficster, The Lazy Yet Discerning Ficster, Edwardsville does a weekly rec list , as do many others
  • A Different Forest does Tuesday Pimp Your Fic rec's
  • Check the Most Recent tab on Twilighted
  • Check the WIP summer 2009 Indie Nominations for WIP's that might have completed between then and now HERE
  • tweet and ask!
We'll be uploading the first round of validated stories sometime late Sunday, and Nominations close on Wednesday at 12 PM Eastern. You still have plenty of time!

Happy Diving!

gustariana & hmonster4
